How does it work?

  Examples of antennas and mounts.
Using wireless radio equipment, an antenna is installed on your property, communicating to one of our wireless repeaters to which the antenna has line-of-sight. The signal is then sent from the antenna, to the wireless radio. Broadband internet is distributed from there to your computer.

What is the range?

We have successfully tested up to 50km away from our repeaters. IMPORTANT: This depends on Line-of-Site: no trees, hedges or buildings are to block the view of where the antenna is to be mounted.

What equipment do I need?

The following is a description of the equipment required to install in order to connect with our Wireless network. For any questions regarding installation, site feasibility, etc, please contact us. We can do a Site Check to ensure you will receive a signal from us, or to discuss with you how we can help if line-of-sight is not possible.

Equipment is provided and remains the property of  WirelessWeb.

Antenna
The size of the Antenna depends on signal strength. The antenna is positioned on your property, often the roof, to have direct line of site with our network. See images below for examples of how the antenna is mounted.

Wireless Radio
The radio connects to our long-range network and distributes the internet locally to your computer. It requires power (240V).

Network Cable
A network cable is connected directly between the antenna and the network card in your computer. The cable can be up to 30 meters in length.

Network Card
You will need a network card in your computer. We can supply for an extra $20.00.

Operating Systems
Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux, Mac OSX.
